Comet 9P/Tempel 1

Manfred Rudolf

In the morning hours of 16.3., I got some shots of Comet 9P/Tempel 1. Air transparency was not good (limiting magnitude ca. 3.5), and also seeing was rather bad, therefore the stars appear bigger than usual.

Comet Tempel can be found between the two bright stars. A slight tail pointing to the right can also be seen.

Many of the diffuse objects in the left part of the image are galaxies, see the map below to identify some of them.

Stack of 6 images with 3 min exposue time each, C11 at 3000mm, ST8, 2x2 binning, FOV ca. 15'x10'. The mage is not flatfield-corrected, therefore some "dust donuts" remain in the right part of the image.
