Mars 2003: Olympus Mons

Giant volcano Olympus Mons is a low-contrast surface feature when seen
from the Earth. Here are two pictures taken on 15 Sep 2003 using an
apochromat refractor 200/1600, a Power Mate 2.5x, a wedge prism of 1°
deviation, a 17mm eyepiece, and a Panasonic Mini DV; ca. 300 images selected
out of ca. 2500.
Those pictures can be fused together for a őD impression.
Note that Olympus Mons could be glimpsed visually using the same instrument.
The third picture to the right is a HST comparison image taken on 27 Aug 2003.
