Transit of Mercury, 7 May 2003

J.-L. Dighaye

EurAstro installed an apochromat refractor 200/1600, a C11 and a LX200 8" on the roof of the EPO Isar bulding. Numerous EPO colleagues came and saw the transit event.

The ingress of Mercury was recorded with the refractor and a Nikon D100 digital camera giving images of the whole Sun (picture is a sectional enlargement):

Thereafter, views were obtained with the C11 and a Panasonic digital camcorder.

The egress was recorded with the same set-up as for the ingress except that a 792+/- 6 nm near-infrared filter was used instead of an attenuator.
